AHHA INVOLVEMENTS IN DISASTER RELIEF AND RECOVERY EFFORT
BOTH OVERSEAS AND LOCALLY IN AUSTRALIA
2022 NSW & Southeast Queensland Floods
The torrential rains that plagued NSW and southeast QLD have caused severe flooding, resulting in immense human and environmental damage. The emotional toll of these floods has been felt by thousands of Australians, as families were seen fleeing the disaster with their children and pets, seeking refuge on rooftops or trapped in their homes. Farmers, too, have suffered greatly, with their livestock swept away and machinery destroyed by the raging waters. After nearly two months of dedicated fundraising activities, the Human Rights Relief Foundation (HRRF) and the Vietnamese Lawyers’ Association (VALA), with the support of Australian Health Humanitarian Aid (AHHA), and the Australian Vietnamese Health Professionals Association NSW (AVHPA), have collectively raised an astounding total of $123,000 for the flood victims in Northern NSW. This significant sum will go a long way in providing essential relief and support to those in need.
2020 Central Vietnam Floods

Declared a national disaster, flooding in this region adversely impacted residents in the area due to disrupted electricity and telecommunication networks. Livelihoods were further worsened by the loss of livestock and water damage to property. Responding to this major crisis, AHHA volunteers and supporters raised $63,000 to purchase 1977 water filter units for over 2000 families in the local area to provide clean drinking water to prevent illness and the spread of infection. In addition to their recipiency of the filtration devices, each family also received $30 to assist with their food supply.
